Herma Heart Institute

Oliver has chosen the Herma Heart Institute at Children’s Wisconsin as the 2022 Open beneficiary. The Herma Heart Institute is the largest pediatric cardiac care center in Wisconsin and is one of the best in the nation for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery by U.S. News & World Report. They specialize in care for patients with congenital heart disease. Grayson Eckl was a patient at the Herma Heart Institute. Grayson was born with a congenital heart defect known as tricuspid atresia with pulmonary stenosis and discontinuous pulmonary arteries. In tricuspid atresia, the tricuspid valve doesn’t form properly. This prevents oxygen poor blood from passing from the right atrium to the right ventricle and on to the lungs as it should. He had surgery to have a pacemaker inserted. He also had surgery to redirect blood from his lower body to his lungs, allowing the blood that is high is oxygen to be separated from the blood that is lower in oxygen to hopefully raise the oxygen saturation. Without the Herma Heart Institute, Grayson wouldn’t have received the care he had received and continues to receive for ongoing care & monitoring.
